Today, the dedicated public service workers of the City of Avon Park voted nearly 95% in favor of retaining their AFSCME contract and representation by AFSCME Local 3597.

Mental Health Awareness Month — observed in May since 1949 — is a time to focus on the challenges faced by millions of Americans living with mental health conditions.

Today, the members of one of the newest AFSCME locals, Miami Gardens, voted 90% in favor of recertifying their union.

Today, after weeks of mail-in voting, the members and workers represented by AFSCME Local 2526 voted overwhelmingly to recertify their union.

The hardworking men and women who keep Duval County Public Schools clean do so while fighting poverty wages of $12/hour. 

AFSCME fought to pass the American Rescue Plan and it is already making a difference in the pandemic recovery effort. The child tax credit provides families with the largest tax credit in history. It not only increases the tax credit for families to $3,000 per child between 6-17 years old at the end of 2021 and $3,600 per child under 6 years old, it also allows half to be paid to families in advance through a monthly check or direct deposit.
