AFSCME Florida released the following statement from executive director Andy Madtes on Governor Rick Scott’s budget proposal:
“Gov. Scott’s budget proposal is the starting point for every Floridian to debate what their priorities are in the coming year. Nobody can deny the fact that public workers have had their budgets cut to the bone, and then some, while failing to have seen their hard work reflected in any positive change in compensation while all around them the cost of living has continued going up. AFSCME Florida hopes to work with Gov. Scott and the legislature to ensure we are investing in quality public services and those who provide them through proper staffing levels, the compensation necessary to attract good employees and ways we can find deliver a budget that works for all stakeholders.”
